Just to be devil's advocate: Suppose you are right, and manufacturers are buying extra zinc because they are nervous about shrinking inventories. Wouldn't this mean that the demand later on would shrink, reversing the current trend in inventories? It certainly appears that the rate in reduction inventories is accelerating, and I am wondering whether this is genuine demand or manufacturers and/or investors hoarding the stuff.
