Tim, You neatly (attempted) to sidestep the question of what your hopes are based upon! Answer a question with a question? Well, I will play...this time.
There are no mysteries as to my sources, except specific names, which are of little consequence.
I frequent several large software retailers (Media Play, Egg Head Software, Comp USA to mention a few). Conversations with employees at these establishments indicate that Digiphone is simply not selling. Reportedly one large discounter (Office Depot) has dropped Digiphone Delux to $30 from $85 to unload it, apparently to make room for something that will sell. In actuality it would seem that there is not much demand at retail (relative to most other classes of software) for any of the shrink-wrap internet phone applications.
One person cuurently employed with Camelot has used the phrase "almost nonexistent" to describe Digiphone sales.
The information ablout the large ISPs and companies like AOL who has the largest subscriber base in the world, losing hugely is a matter of public record. There is no reason to believe that CIAS should be any different. Really as a start up company it would be hard to imagine them showing a profit in the best of businees climates. Todays climate for ISPs is far from ideal.
I have several friends in Dallas, and family that goes there frequently, they all continue to report that the Cost+ 10% stores seldom have any traffic. In fact, I am told that employees there have stated concerns about anyone working there having jobs for very long after the Holidays. Taken in aggregate these things certainly tend to support my conclusions. At least, they are more of a basis for speculation than unsupported "hopes".
As to the Digiphone version 2.0, remember Delux, they blew the release of it by about 9 months or so. Do you have any insight as to why we would expect better performance on 2.0? If so I would love to hear about it. If things continue on the current path, I am afraid they may never get around to delivering on this one at all. In any case this will hardly be a factor in the Q2 performance numbers!!
About those hopes, can't you add any substance...any at all? Most of the time people base their hopes on SOMETHING. When I am hoping to win the lottery, at least I have purchased a ticket <G> |
