Some info on Sceptre:

As of Dec. 31/97 re. the Equity Growth Fund:

1) Allan Jacobs, the portfolio manager...

In 1884, after working 4 yrs. for a C.A. firm, he joined the investment division of a major S. African insurance company. He progressed from an equity research analyst to managing the LARGEST equity fund in the country with assets of $5 billion.

In '89, he immigrated to Canada and spent 4 yrs. at a large Cdn. life insurance co. as the portfolio mgr. of small cap. Cdn. equities.

He joined Sceptre as mgr. of the Equity Growth fund in '93 which is quite significant if you look at a graph showing fund performance over the span of '86-'97 (from '93 on the performance was drastically improved over prior years).

As of Dec. 31/97, gold and silver made up 2% of the fund and this portion of the portfolio consisted of:

I think this info is very encouraging despite the sad share price at the moment. Remember also, this info is for Dec. 31 so the Rat could very well be right when he says Sceptre actually has a lot more than 3M shares now.
