I agree. One can't help but to be suspect of this type of reporting so close to the earnings release. Analysts are always looking for the maximum impact to their reports. I don't think it is as much that bulls don't want to hear any negative news, as much as, why are some analysts rehashing old news? Tell us something we don't already know.
