In my mind, it is these kind of comments that argue in favor of having a flexible system that allows for updating and changes as peoples desires change, not a system that is "hard coded" and cannot be changed without swapping hardware. The broadcasters don't want to do any of this, so they'll be fighting any additional functionality for the consumer tooth and nail. However, if there is enough demand by the consumer, considerable pressure can be brought to bear by the manufacturers and regulators.

I think the chances are less than 50/50 that the system currently approved remains static for more than two years.
