Hi Monty; Re> The Advancing-Declining Issues is calculated simply by subtracting the number of declining issues from the number of advancing issues."
I have calculated the numbers many ways believe this is the probably the way to go. What do you think?

The above looks like it will serve the purpose , I like the quote
" keep it simple" and won't take up to much time, after all
you will have other indicators to watch as I don't believe there is a holy grail.
It's OK to re-invent the wheel as long as you have a handle on it,
I myself have done that a lot, it helps train us to see things from several angles. Many of them I have discarded for more simplicity.
Also we have to consider the source of our data, like when dealing
with volume the nasdaq issues trade twice.
As much as some people swear by the McClellan Oscillator, and it
is good,
I doubt many people realize it will not be as consistent
on the nasdaq as the nyse, due to the Market Maker effect.

One thing about what your doing at least has you thinking for
yourself , that if any thing is the holy grail. <G>
The simple A/D issues suite me, with that but separate I like to
look at the new highs / new lows, these should confirm
one another sort of close and if not then I question the data.
