Stanley,

Sorry to hear you had to pull the trigger on CAWS. I continue to
accumulate. Paula's understandably petulant point about the bad news
being discounted is nonetheless valid.

My only response about why 1.5 is different from 5 or 7 or 10 is that
I don't recall 10 million shares traded on those occasions
- the entire float changed hands on Friday! That in my mind spells
oversold.

Besides, the BANX news might have been exacerbated by Greenspan's
"irrational exuberance" statement coinciding as well as tax selling.

Again, the noncombatants at BANX hedge themselves against the threat
of a new technology by buying a basket of different companies and
letting the small cap gladiators fight it out - digital
wireless, XDSL, Fiber etc. The fact is the jury is still out and will
be for several years.

CAWS is the point man in basically a turf battle between the RBOC's...
and with the BT/MCI agreement, BANX has another huge rival for the turf.

A brief random thought on your 31 day quandry...
I believe that you might be able to purchase CAWS options within
the 31 day period since the "wash sale" rules only forbid
"substantially identical" securities being repurchased within 31 days.

Options IMHO are not substanitally identical because they have a
definite expiration date whereas stocks do not.

I haven't read the regs on stock options, however, so I'll defer this
issue to the tax lawyers on the thread.

Good luck regardless, Stanley!
