this site license issue has been the risk on CA for a long time. it works when spending is open and large customers are succeeding. once CA starts signing 1 and 2 year contracts, it will be tough for them to go back to selling the 5 year ones if times get better. customers now days want to have greater resource control and less overhead capacity. buying 5 years of a license may give minor cost savings, but customers value the flexibility of shorter contracts more.

i don't know what the new product line estimates are, but i know they've come down pretty substantially, especially on the mainframe side.
