I don't think Russian consumption matters that much.
Asia is a different matter. Japanese economy is a lot larger
than Russian (both have 150 mln population),
and Japan has no resources.
Of course, if you take into account that Russia is terribly
inefficient, maybe they should consume more energy/metals/etc.
I have seen a graph: GDP change (%) vs time (years), which shows
a long-term uptrend. It crossed zero last year.
While Russian output of oil decreased, I have read that more
oil is coming from Saudi Arabia, Iraq, etc. - these countries try
to compensate falling oil prices by rising output.
Discontent is already in place, revolt is likely. Russia has to
spend a lot of money feeding bureaucrats (old commies). Maybe, a
deep crisis is needed to shake those off.
