Yes, there have been a lot of failed attempts to compete against M$. Sun saw all of those. Don't you think they thought about it before they started all of this? You think you're the only one that knows M$ has killed all competition along the way? I think sun is EXTREAMLY smart in this case. They are fighting a battle in M$ territory. I don't know about you but if there is going to be a battle between me and my neighbor I would rather it be in their house so I can tear up their stuff and not in mine. Besides, Sun needs the recognition. As long as they are fighting M$ and not hurting their core business they keep growing and growing. And I still say, who knows that they won't win? Maybe their plan is to keep M$ distracted from everything else that is going on.
