Let there be no dobt - RDRAM is the best solution for the next 3 years - nobody's even close. Add in the fact that Intel's new CPU's will be made implementing Rambus techonology which not only will give Rambus a great share of royalty from Intel but also virtually eliminate competetition. I will venture to guess that CPU's desgined from AMD, Cyrix, TI, Motorola and IBM will, sooner rather than later (a familiar frase?), be Rambus-compliant. Futher I strongly believe that Rambus will use their available funds (today just about $ 90 million and increasing rapidly) to solve latency and strongly improve on their existing patented technology (Continuance in parts applications will surely be filed).
Today Rambus received royalty revenue only from NEC/Nitendo in addition to Contract Revenues. Contract Revenues will decrease and Royalty Revenue will Increase dramatically as Compaq, Gateway, DELL, HP and others bring Computers to market utilizing RIMM's RAIC's and RDRAM. In addition Matsishita and others (Samsung?) will utilize Rambus-tehcnology within the DVD/TV arena and as we approach the change-over to Digital TV's and integrated TV/PC/DVD the potential Royalty Revenue for Rambus will become astonishing.
