PS -- Stephan, I haven't looked back at my post, but my recollection is that Trimble competitors in Japan include Japan Radio Corp., Matsushita/Orbital, Rockwell, and a couple of others. I'll try to post again on this. If you are trying to determine market share in 2001, based on today's regional shares, I think TRMB has about a share between twenty five and thirty percent in Japan, at least eighty percent in Europe, and very little currently going on the US outside of the upcoming Microsoft deal. I expect TRMB to lose a little in Europe, simply because there's more available downside than upside, and gain significantly in the US from Auto PC. Japan is extremely hard to read from the public record. |
