Arctic - I'm glad to be able to contribute SOMETHING to this thread as I don't like to take without giving in return and my ability to contribute with scans is nil at the moment. I'm really excited about the VB capability as my mind is swirling now at the possibilities of doing backtests with the scans that I do eventually come up with.

I'd like to get as many opinions as possible as to what I need to consider when building a backtester. So if any of you have any experience with this kind of thing or have any helpful ideas I'd sure like to "hear" them!

I've been thinking about taking the list output from Q+R2 and having the prog load the stocks and the daily data into an Excel spreadsheet and then doing an iterative process of determining what the best strategy might be for that group of hits.

I think I should try all of the possible combinations of target profit %'s and loss tolerance %'s to see when each issue would trigger a sale. With the goal of trying to maximize the total "portfolio" value.

I also have Metastock 6.5 but haven't done anything with it yet. I believe I've read that it can only process one stock at a time but I I need to massage all of the hits concurrently to see the potential effectiveness of a scan.

It will be sometime next week before I get my revisions done to the 3 programs Gary has been kind enough to supply and I'll send them to him ASAP.

I think this is my 3d message today so I'll have to wait till the AM (I know, I know.. subscribe already!) to respond again..
