Hi Dave,

Just finished reading your rather lengthy post, and a few more you posted after that one. It seems to me that the answer to ALL the problems you mentioned would be for SI to eliminate OTC-BB stocks from the threads. After all, that is THE one common thread among all of the disagreements. Of course that would mean that all of the penny hypesters would be out of business here, and they'd have to go to one of the "other" chat boards like Raging Bull or AOL or Yahoo. Whoops! Not Yahoo. They've already done away with the pennies.

In looking deeper into the "problem" threads, they all seem to have other things in common:

a) Non-reporting companies
b) Often vague and useless press releases interpreted as a gift from the Gods for shareholders by the hypesters
c) Usually the companies are in multiple, non-related lines of business
d) High degree of resentment towards anyone who actually chooses to discuss the risks of the investment
e) Inherent beliefs that all MMs are evil, all Canadians are shorters, and the Canadian MMs are the worst
f) "Longs" who are ready and willing to blame others for any downturn in the stock price
g) People who think that finding a press release or telephoning the company CEO is actually excellent DD
h) People who think that the SEC is not a good source of information and that external audits are just a bunch of hooey that doesn't apply to penny stocks
i) Usually one or more "free" newsletter writers posting on the thread
j) Cheerleaders and usually more than just one or two

So why don't we try a two week trial period with no posts to or about penny stocks allowed?

Of course I'm being facetious. The penny threads are where we find all the fun and hype and everything else. And we'd miss all those people who think that their penny stock (aka Mycompany) is the best OTC-BB to come along: "Mycompany is not a bad investment..." "Mycompany is not a scam..." "I'll be the first to make my fortune in the pennies with Mycompany..." and so on...
