I PMd this to another investor this evening in response to what I think is happening right now with INFE; I think it fits in with Sigmund's observations.

I think the MMs trying to take it as low as possible, perhaps under $1.00. They seem to be trying to take out as many weak shares as possible to cover the existing short position. Combine this with no more shorting from Canada due to no more shares. Combine this with hundreds of thousands of shares held by long termers that aren't going anywhere. And finally, combine this with long termers, etc., buying more at these levels to hold for profit.

This is a rubber band waiting to snap. The MMs may take it up nicely on any news to try and shake the tree - that will be interesting. The next selling you see will probably be between the MMs to drop the bid lower; also expect the gap between the bid/ask to be wide to discourage buying.

It isn't 'them' against us. It is long term investors holding for healthy profits. The MMs will/may cover themselves bringing it up, then down, maybe 2-3 times in different ranges. What I find fascinating about this situation is the seeming battle of the nerves by those shorting. Some of them have got to be real nervous as they realize they can shake the tree but get only a few leaves; the fruit is holding fast, and more is being added to the tree daily.

Of course, this is all speculation on my part (disclaimer).
