Thats why Amazon advertises on television and radio.

They do? I'm in a 1 million people metropolitan area, and I've never heard or saw any Amazon ads in the mainstream media formats. I have however, heard some heavy advertising by Barnesandnoble.com (repeated several times during the ads).

Amazon's exposure is more widespread now so I would have to assume that Amazon is a buzzword among the masses as well as the net savvy.

Believe it or not, Amazon hasn't quite made it to the level of "buzzword among the masses". Not that you care one way or the other (except that the stock goes higher), but perhaps you could undertake your own small sampling, say asking five of your non-internet-using friends whether or not they have heard of Amazon.com.

Except among online internet stock bulls, I have found that if the name Amazon.com is even known, it is known of in only the most vague and distant terms.

Most of the so-called "consumers" of Amazon's web-site are probably newbie investors buying "Learn How to Day-trade the Stock Market in Only Five Easy Lessons".
