Which technologies offer the greatest speed vs cost relationship? Cable offers lightening speed compared to modem and the installation and user fees are now reasonable and will come down. What about the twisted pair technologies which will split frequencies on telephone lines, who will be the provider for this? In my opinion the internet is so rich and so diversified, and will get more so, that attempts to marshall and control content by an AOL type provider will be overwhelmed by the webmasters and their sponsors. I think AOL will do just fine for a while as users learn how to bypass their front end and use netscape and also get the value added of AOL content as a bonus. Also many new users will also begin with AOL. But when the technologies to browse with lightening speed ,at reasonable cost, become more widely known those providers will dominate.
