They stated they had a 'string of pearls' approach to acquisitions. Sound familiar? The NT speculation was holding up the price of BAY. Nortel announced that they'd be making a big announcement during Supercomm (i think it was Supercomm). A lot of people figured it would be the BAY deal, but it turned out to be some joint dev. with MSFT. BAY promptly dropped that Friday b/c people thought NT+BAY wasn't happening. NT+BAY announced the following Monday before the bell.
