most are Apple computer owners rather than professional investors in the tech market.

Which group do you think is responsible for AAPL's performance over the last six months, Richard? Without the former, the latter would still be sitting around with their thumbs up their arses, lamenting the poor performance of "the beleaguered computer maker" (TM).

I've come to a new appreciation for the bears on this thread, thanks to Alomex's consistent, clear, and thoughtful "opposing" view. He's helped me realize just how great Apple can be.
