I have a reasonable hold in VVUS myself. As with your wife, my wife would get stressed if I bought more. I would assume that you would dread the same "Investment Update" questions I get from my wife about once a week. It goes like this, "So, how is the stock doing?". I invariable answer, "fine". What the Hell does "fine" mean? She doesnt say that part, but I feel it beaming at the side of my head (she is sitting to my side and I'm on the PC). Next question she asks, "Is it going up?" I HATE to answer that one! I just say "it's doing fine, hun".
I explain that I am counting on the future "buyout" and that it should "go up" sometime soon....that just fizzles. She is great about, but I get a guilt trip anyway...she is very intelligent and capable in genral, but just doesn't know a whole lot about stocks, investing, monentum, and the whole preception factor of the markets.
Anyway, just thought I'd share that with anyone who could relate :)
