Hi Chris

"Anyway, I have a question: If USA law mandates a 56-bit key code maximum, who is JAWZ going to sell their product to? Am I correct in assuming that any company in America that uses a key code above 56-bit will be breaking the law? I'm sure I just don't understand this, so someone please help me out"

According to the ridiculous way the law works, a US company can't use a greater than 56 bit code if it is bought from another US company. However, they are free to purchase from a non-US company. Some companies tried to circumvent the law by setting up subsidiaries outside the US but the US gov't said "no way". Just for the record, Jaws is 100% Canadian and cannot be linked to any American company.

This is why the US encryption manufacturers are up in arms. I can't remember the exact figure but I think they cited the potential loss of $20 Billion over the next few years if they are prevented from competing in this market.

Hope that helps.
