What makes you say Gary North is widely respected? Reading his web page, he appears to me only as a person who is comfortable stating opinion as fact. A Gary North Y2K quote: "One last warning: the governments' strategy, all over the world, is: (1) talk this problem to death, (2) form committees, and (3) send out PR sheets that they will make it -- without evidence." Says who? What are his facts? His sources? How about naming some governments and what they have or have not done that led him to this conclusion. If he is an expert as you say, who has sanctioned him as an expert? ComputerWorld? Infoweek? Microsoft? etc. I'm open on this one. This is a good discussion. Let's keep it going. If you can convince me that Gary North is a respected Y2K expert, I'll eat a hot dog!
