Earnings report not good, but things seem to be turning around.
I figure SGI's CEO has one more quarter before Wall Street demands his head..If he can post a profit even a slight one, before year-end there is hope..Otherwise sub-10 pricing is distined.
From latest WSJ:
Silicon Graphics Plans 45% Price Cut on Onyx2
Silicon Graphics Inc., Mountain View, Calif., announced it will cut the price of its entry-level visualization product, the Onyx2 Reality, by 45%. The company also announced it will reduce prices on its Octane power workstation line, a move that the company says could save Unix users as much as 36%. The price reductions are a reflection of streamlined operations and new upgraded systems, the company said. Separately, the company announced the formation of a new initiative to promote the use of virtual-reality technology. The so-called Silicon Graphics Virtual Reality Initiative is comprised of an international experts group, which will address technical and theoretical issues, a partner-funding program to provide technical and marketing support and educational programs.
