I have no personal experience in thin client computing, but according to a recent article in LAN Times Plus, thin client computing is one of the "great unfulfilled promises of our time" The problem is that they depend on Java coding that doesn't exist, and considering the difficulty in finding Java expertise, isn't likely to exist anytime soon. An alternate possibility accomplishing most of the same ends is Citrix Systems new Metaframe.It's a client/server systems that can use very stripped down inexpensive client computers running a variety of operating systems. Metaframe operates programs at the server and the only thing passed between the client and the server are mouse clicks , key strokes and screen updates, so it doesn't need much bandwidth or a fast or expensive client computer to run programs fast.The product is getting rave reviews. It's nice to have some of your money in a German stock on a day like today, but the German market will probably fall in sympathy.
