Q3/Tangster,
1.) You said the only "logical choice" was VIAS. That's not knowledge, that's guessing. 2.) You did not supply me with the phone number and extension. Please review the rules.
Others, please note that this response does not constitue agreement that VIAS is the place <g>.
Stan,
And what precisely entitles you (or others) to the fruits of my labor? I share with people who share with me. You have served up nothing but misinformation (some of it intentional), yet you demand that I share susbtantial stuff with you? Are you a Communist or something? I'll have to ask Jade and Jay Maitland whether you have been spotted moving around North Korea <g>
All,
Nice story in WSJ today on the difficulties of a major insurer. 100 COBOL programmers can't get it right! But of course, Stan feels that a program chugging away at 20K/hour is just what Allstate needs, because "there is plenty of time" left.
For those of you paying attention, you will also notice that IBMs "free solution" is perfect for very small company's with very small inventories of programs. Small time VARS and even smalltime computer repairmen have had this software for some time. perfect for the little mom and pop shop that made the mistkae of abelieving that they needed a used mainframe some years ago <g>.
BTW, if you want real thinking rather than Stan's ex-post-facto "me tooism" style of sharing information, consider this:
Only 50% of coorporations with significant mission critical COBOL legacy stuff will be y2k compliant by 2000. Maybe your 15 year old niece forgot to tell you that Stan <g>. But I am sure that you already knew it, you jsut decided to state exactly the opposite on these boards for reasons I cannot begin to fathom.
