Actually the one that doesn't work was released after the MSFT product on which it was demonstrated not to work on. In fact it was a beta version.

When I installed Media Player it did, in fact, take over the extension/application type as you would expect any viewer you install to do. Since Media Player doesn't support RealPlayer 5.0 format I wanted to reinstall 5.0. I didn't keep a copy so I went to download it from the web site and could only find the G2 beta. After installing G2 beta it worked fine.

I don't see what the fuss is. When you install ANY viewer that plays the same files as another viewer you should expect it to take over those extensions and application types and should not be surprised if it overwrites a DLL.
