Hey Frank,

Lord knows I'm a TDFX bull, but let's not get too carried away here. Michael's article does a good job explaining why Intel's current offering, the i740, is a poor performer and won't be an immediate threat to the 3D accelerator market. However, Intel (like Microsoft) has rarely hit a home run with its first release of anything. Intel excels at learning from its mistakes and _eventually_ coming out with stuff that performs pretty well.

(No, I'm not long INTC! ;-)

Anyway, I remain confident that TDFX can continue to innovate enough to remain ahead of INTC for quite some time to come, but I am watching Intel very closely for _concrete_ info on what their next move will be:

- Improve the i740? (I expect at least one more attempt)
- Integrate graphics into the chipsets? (FOUL!)
- Buy someone. (E&S move was very interesting)
- Give up. (Not likely IMHO)
