Thanks for the thoughts...I'm in the insurance business and that field is certainly one to focus on in this decade. But, to find the companies to consider in that group...I don't know where to begin.
First thought is to look at John Hancock's new sector mutual fund, Financial Institutions, and see what companies that manager is buying. He has done a great job managing his last fund.
I'm an independent agent, doing property & liability, life and mutual funds. So I certainly have a good idea of what's happening in those fields. But, to pick five companies....??? I feel that if I went to Value Line, the companies they focus on are the result of past performance, not what are going to be the stars of the future.
With the Baby Boomers' effect to consider, I understand a portfolio should have communications and finance in it. Banks and insurance institutions will merge in the coming ten years. I want a system for picking companies, long term and mid term. Any more specific direction I can get will make me a deciple here. |
