Hi Norma,
I tend to agree with Bill B. Hope to keep making friends the rest of my life, however long that may be. When you start losing your friends to death, only memories are left and hope never to be in the position that all my friends are deceased and I have not made new ones. Whether they become very close friends or ones that I communicate with from time to time, that would be a very lonely existence to me and one I do not want to create for myself.
Agree, no problem with speaking your mind on the subject stock. A good discussion or debate on facts can keep things in perspective, IMHO. Some of the rhetoric on this thread is very difficult to deal with, in my opinion and I have flinched, especially remarks about my family. That was truly hurtful, IMHO. Emotions or not. I thoroughly enjoyed John's post. Showed a good sense of humor in his explanation of Canada and Canadians. Just was factually wrong though with his information, IMO.
Guess we will have to deal with the past for some time as long as some posters continue to post remarks pertaining to the past.
I have found (in lurking many threads) there are always people that are going to dig more into a company than others in doing what is commonly called DD. Since NVID is the only stock that I have ever discussed or debated on the SI thread, I have had the opportunity to dig deeper than I have ever done before on any stock. Before attending the shareholder's meeting for NVID, I had only attended one other small-cap SH meeting and did so because it was here in my city. I am convinced more than ever now that is a very important thing to do if you possibly can. Getting to meet the people that are running the company and listening to what they have to say was certainly a benefit for me. Notice that a lot of new companies in my city are being added to SI and may just confine my interests to following them so that I can attend, if I decide to invest. I had said that I was going to get out of the small-caps, but think I may change my mind. Since being a newbie to small-cap investing, I have almost been overwhelmed with information on how to do that, as well as fact finding, which I already had experience in doing. Many people have many ideas on how to do DD. I found myself not comfortable with doing some of what was suggested.
Saw one email on BBNS that picks stocks by astrology methods, but wondered how effective that might be. Pot luck picks might be just the same. That is one of the things I have liked about BBNS, Kerry has many lists to pick from on his email list. A lot of information comes your way every day, that you might not see otherwise. Some of it has no interest to me, but find some of it very helpful to follow. I was lucky to be one of the first subscribers to SI and read post that stated we were grandfathered with no fee for life. That was good news. Also when I first signed on for BBNS there was no fee, but Kerry advised all of the members of why he must begin to charge a fee and I think for the huge volume of information available to each member, the fee is totally reasonable. My opinion of course. I have especially enjoyed the WSJ breakdown of the days most important stories. Some days just don't have enough time to read all the papers. In case you did not read it, Kerry did not say that NVID will be THE top gainer for the year. He stated that he thought it would be "HIS" top gainer of the year, I believe. Correct me if I am wrong...ggg I think this was misquoted.
We will just have to wait and see if all is lost. I have hopes that the company will be able to be turned around and I don't have to dump and because water is a basis of our existence, I intend to hang in to see if the RMS system is successful. If proven to do just some of all that was listed, it could have much potential for that industry.
If people cannot afford to dump, as you say, could it be possible they only have themselves to blame for their choices or who they listened to or they possibly believed or were told they were going to make a lot of money and invested too much. I think every investor in the world has experienced that situation at some point in their investing history. The worst scenario to me is listening to a relative, especially if they are a stockbroker, and having it cause a rift in a family. Being the only investor in small caps in mine, by the nature of this conversation know that would be a great mistake to make. Totally agree with Bill B. on that subject.
Get your specks out.....ggg Guess I had better send out an SOS for someone to take over for awhile since that seems to be the plan. Can't just let those that are not invested take over the thread and bash us or NVID. Maybe I can enlist the help of Fred, Tumon, Kerry and James, who ARE investors, to keep the scales balanced. Maybe Fred has a good idea about the laughter. Pleasant change for awhile too.
My regards, n(Naomi)haynes (Still having to get up very early to answer all these posts.) |
