In re: Brown, your cash available is buying power based on the marginability of your positions as well as actual cash in the account. It won't add up exactly because you get more buying power than 50% of the marginable positions. There's an 80% slide. Basically, you get the value by adding the positions' value and subtracting any margin debt that exists.

When you say you got "nothing" from Web Street, I think that is part of the problem I experienced. I found they'll say whatever is convenient, rather than what's accurate, or they won't say anything. They never go to the trouble to really find out what you need to know or help a problem get honestly resolved. They will just give any answer that will get you off your back. I had ONE Customer Service rep recently who was different. He went to the trouble to find out what I needed to know, was intelligent, understood the question and got the answer. I'm afraid to mention his name; he doesn't fit in there. They might fire him. LOL!

If he worked for me I'd put him in charge of the department.
