SYSTEMS of Excellence Announces Contract with State of Florida Department of Corrections

PR Newswire - December 09, 1996 13:08

FINANCIAL SEXI CPR CON V%PRN P%PRN

MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Interim President and CEO of SYSTEMS of Excellence, Thomas Clines, announced today that the Company has signed a contract with the State of Florida Department of Corrections to provide videoconferencing services to the Department's central and regional offices, and Local Video Network services to one pilot Correctional Institution.

Under the terms of the contract, SYSTEMS of Excellence will furnish videoconferencing hardware and software to the Department of Corrections, and SPRINT, a value added reseller of SYSTEMS' equipment, will provide ISDN services for the entire project which is scheduled to commence in January 1997.

Mr. Clines also stated today that while SYSTEMS is continuing to explore various applications for its products and technology with Johns Hopkins University Hospital through its value added reseller, ICE Communications, Inc., he regrets that, contrary to an announcement made last summer by prior management at SYSTEMS Of Excellence (SEI), of Coral Gables, Fla., neither the Johns Hopkins University nor the Johns Hopkins Hospital has purchased desktop vidoeconferencing systems either directly from SEI or through its value added reseller, ICE Communications.

The desktop videoconferencing market segment is projected to increase at an annual rate of 45%, according to Frost and Sullivan, and should grow to be a $7.0 Billion market segment by the year 2002. Mr. Clines made clear that SYSTEMS' newly assembled management team is committed to completing development of the Company's products, and to aggressively pursuing market share with an array of functionally complete, competitively priced products and services.
