I can't imagine why any software company would choose to distribute on ZIP. The world has made the move to CD as the method to distribute software and distribution via the Internet is the next logical progression. Why would anyone be interested in a $10??? media which is used by a small percentage of computer owners. I'd think anyone progressive enough to have a ZIP would certainly have a CD (which holds 5x the bits for 10% of the cost).

My thinking on IOMs products keeps going around in circles... ZIP is interesting as a physical exchange media in todays world. JAZZ is even more interesting given its speed, though media/drive $$$ is a problem. ZIP is too small (and slow), to serve as the primary storage in a low end system, JAZZ is too expensive (vis-a-vis a $199 hard drive). Nothing quite adds up yet... This stuff is great for niche markets where removable storage is needed. I just can't quite come up with the senario where it breaks into prime-time.

Anyway, IOM has very interesting products, but I just don't see them sweeping the market off its feet with either of them. Now a 200-300MB ZIP for $50-$100??? That might me interesting as the primary storage for a "network computer" (assuming it even needs storage for cache or whatever).
