Vancouverite -- The CBC's coverage of Placer Dome's environmental sins in the Philippines is not propaganda. It is probably good journalism in action, and comes complete with photographic evidence and attributed comments from experts and interested parties. What I'm referring to are Roy Carson's wholly unsubstantiated comments about Placer Dome and its officers. One such small example is this, from one of his e-mail dispatches. Referring to the Las Cristinas court case, decided a couple of months after this item was sent out by Carson . . . -- Mr. Carson hints the outcome of the decision is already well known, saying that officials within the mines ministry believe Placer does not even have "as much as a foot in the door" on the concessions.
