Your assesment makes perfect sence. Look at the performance in the past two days -- stock is up $4.00 (30%). It will go to low 30's a lot faster then you estimated -- there are a lot of mutual funds that are accumulating VRTY, but they can, by law, only purchase so much not to drive the price up or down too fast. Look for VRTY to be in the low 30's by January 20, 1997.
