I believe many universities are opting to direct their students to the Apple Store. If you go to the Apple Educational Store you'll see that regular students can now purchase from it and that Apple has individual arrangements (pricing can actually vary between universities even though the purchase is being made through the Apple Store) with scores of schools. Also look at Macintouch from yesterday or the day before for a short discussion about this. Seems like a good idea if Apple can get them out the door quickly.
