Since charater assassinations are sweeping the internet which you were the latest victim I thought this post would be in order. What is character .... trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, citizenship, etc? Which has more character, people who whine and complain or those that step up to plate to do something about it willing to take the heat? Which embodies more character, innuendoes or solid facts? Which demonstrates more character, solid guidelines and responsible standards or transparent Phony Empathy, Sympathy or Apathy.
I prefer to pass judgment based on actions which includes a person's rhetoric, delivery and facts. Making a post that warns then twists off the facts with innuendoes are an oxymoron. I personally question character when a poster's ethics reflects a distorted version of the true. People are so quick to announce their moral obligations, however I personally believe that is determined by principle, not by the situation. Some people always seem to find and twist exceptions to ethical principles.
Everything peoples post acts as an expression of their character and willingly to risk the ultimate consequence, social disapproval. To me the primary ethical principle is a personal responsibility which includes a moral duty / responsibility to make things right. What makes a person of exceptional character is one that stands out from the crowd. One who is dedicated and possesses the moral strength to know plus do the right thing in circumstances that might overwhelm or confuse the rest of the world or internet.
People of true character to me are people with a conscientious (demonstrated by a deeply held commitment of right), ability to control their emotions (until pushed), confident (cognizant of facts), courageous (not afraid of change, uncertainty, disapproval or confrontation with difficult, risky or painful situations), and competence (skills and abilities to devise while evaluating options then effectively implementing good decisions).
There are a lot of people on the internet that maybe they are of true character but actions speak louder than words. No easier way to discredit someone is attack their character with innuendoes. GRRRRR!!!
Hey I could be wrong but opinions/views vary.
