You may be right. I said "probably" but that could have been "possibly". Telephone equipment is complex, and on the voice end 99.99% reliability is required. Once companies equip part of their system with LU products there is a strong incentive to insure compatibility by sticking with the same supplier. This "lock in " feature is more important than market dominance. In any case, at present LU P/E and PEG ratios, I can find better gorilla companies at lower prices, so for me the discussion is academic. My favorite gorilla at the moment is SAP, and my favorite that might become a gorilla later is Citrix Systems. Both have performed very well for me in the last year.
BTW.. I don't know if it has been posted yet, but Mr. Moore was recently offered a partnership in the same venture capital firm that also took the H&Q Intel analystRob Chaplinsky on board.
