No, only the G2 problem is a result of the stupid bug. WMP disables Real Player 4.0 and 3.0, and even the Real Player plus stuff. While Microsoft may have a technology license from Real Player, I doubt there is any specific agreement about Microsoft arbitrarily taking over the Mime-types when WMP is loaded and shoving Real Player aside without notification to the user.
