I wanted to clarify further. A mm can make money on COMMISSION if he buys from client a at 10 and sells to client b at 10. Commission only. Mm would probably rather make an 1/8th on the trade, buying from client a at 10 and crossing at 1/8. Thinking about it, this might not be considered a cross perse since the market is taking a position, rather than cross a trade from seller to buyer, but most would just simply say, it was crossed at 10.

The only ones who will ever know what happened are the firms privy to the transactions, the clients and the nasdaq.

Regards,
