WELL THOUGHT OUT! I see the logic in your thinking quite easily. However, I am not sure about CPQ buying SCO though because then assumptions will be made by VAR's and customer's that CPQ-braded software and H/W are the way to go. CPQ and Sun's S/W I think fit better than a pure SCO play. I think SCO is still easier than Solaris but development by 3rd parties leaves a lot to be desired. AAPL had this problem a number of years ago and the threat still lingers. I simply cannot put my finger on where CPQ will go though. Buying SCO would be something IBM would do and CPQ MUST REALLY BE SURE that they don't create that perspective out there.

Buying NOVL is out of the question! NT Server sales are on a momentum and CPQ cannot afford to lose that. Do you think MSFT would keep CPQ up high on its list if that happened - no sirree.
