Wild Oats Opens Wellness Center, Announces Opening in Indianapolis BOULDER -- Wild Oats Markets is now offering more than just groceries and supplements to its customers. The first of many planned Wild Oats Wellness centers recently opened here, featuring holistic health care specialists and a lending library. According to company founder Mike Gilliland, the wellness center is the first of its kind. He said he hopes to have more centers installed near every Wild Oats location in the coming years. Centers are already slated for Phoenix, Las Vegas, Miami and Santa Fe. In other Wild Oats news, the company announced the November opening of a new store in Indianapolis. The 28,000 square-foot store will replace a large drugstore operation. The company plans to spend about $2 million on renovations. The opening marks the first entry of a large, publicly traded natural products grocer in a market dominated by independently owned local stores.
