Clint,

I reread your answer and I think we're pretty much on the same wavelength. I agree with your outlook on the chippies but do think INTC will ignite the next SOX rally next time it heads above 85 - it would be a nice short-term trade (to the upside).

I become more bearish every time I talk to some folks in the industry (on both sides, equipment and chippies), perhaps a contrarian would think we're close to bottom then. I think people will sooner or later figure out that this time is not like 96 or the other recent downturns. My only regret is covering my big-sized short positions in COHU (shorted at ~29, covered @25, now 21) and ESIO (shorted @34, covered @30, now 27) too soon. If AMAT breaks previous low (which will happen before the equipment stocks hit bottom), then it should head towards the next nice number (I like nice easy to remember targets - and for my actual trade points add a buck if short or subtract a buck if long). In due time, we'll know how things really are,

- MJ
