Dateline France: Archeologists today announced a major discovery in Southern France. The discovery was of a previously unknown cave holding clay jars purporting to have the first ever evidence of wine making. All of the jars were inscribed with a bird and what is being interpreted variously as either lightning bolts or simply as jagged looking lines. Expedition leader Jacques Monde described the wine the jars held as "Utterly disgusting, perhaps time has changed it's flavor to a considerable extent." Other members of the research team were equally damning of the ancient vintage with comments ranging from "Ghastly" to "Tastes like petroleum distillates."
Also of note was the cave was decorated with a considerable amount of art of a type never previously found in ancient cave paintings. Monde characterized the paintings as "Extremely graphic and incredibly obscene." Most of the expedition members felt that coupled with the wine discoveries that this indicated the cave was an important religious site with implications of a fertility cult.
One member of the team disagreed however saying he felt, "This is a place where couples or groups got together, got drunk, and then looked to the walls for inspiration."
