Hi Julie, I think we're all dummies at different times when treading into the stock market. A partial response[PR] is usually defined as tumor shrinkage of 50% or greater. A complete response[CR] does vary in language but usually is very strict in definition. I have seen it defined as a complete dissappearance of all detectable disease for a specific time. Idec's release today was very postive and right in line with previous results. The CR of 9% also was in line but it would have been nice to see that number a bit higher. I have not seen the individual patient breakdown but what was disclosed before showed that many PR were very close to CR but due to residual traces of the disease they were classified as PR. As far as the future manufacturing of C2B8, my understanding is Idec will be responsible for most of the manufacturing in the 1st year of production with Genentech to take over as the product demand increases. Idec did move their company to a building that was built specifically for manufacturing a few years ago.Genentech has also been preparing in the past year or so for future manufacturing as well. SmithKline Beecham already has been spending quite a bit of $ on a new manufacturing facility for CE9.1 which is not expected to be approved until late 1998. My understanding is that Genentech made similar advance expendatures.Idec also has done some contract manufacturing for large pharmaceutical companies and has taken great pride in this limited production. Any insight that you might have would be valued greatly.
