"Do university students buy their Imacs locally; or are there special arrangements made directly with apple distributors for the schools" ------------- At most schools, there is a special (I've been to two, and they were both privately operated) computer store that offers student and faculty discount. There are special mail-order places that handle educational discounts, and MacWarehouse puts out a separate Educational Warehouse catalog.
