Mr. Markoff has me thinking.....we have all been assuming that BD&Co's first order of business is to run down to Bolivia and do a complete audit, etc, whatever is necessary for 3rd party VERIFICATION.
What today's 8K might suggest is that maybe the SEC has told GE, in effect, "First and foremost, show us that <<report on May 22, 1998 may have been released without a sufficient basis as to the reliability of the report>> is not true" In other words, if you want to avoid a fraud/hype charge, prove to us that you at least had basis for your claim. 3rd party verification is important, too, but it will take a lot of time. First, at least prove to us that you had basis. Could me more legal than technical? Hence BD&Co's role as legal counsel, instead of being announced as 3rd party verifiers?
Just thinking out loud. Regards, Eric |
