Good Afternoon Margaret,

It was a beautiful day here in Philadelphia, and the work was light.

Yes it was good to see that Intel held up well over the recent debacle. I guess we have to put up with Greenspan every now and then causing a setback in the market. Keep in mind that the long term trend is up. It is sometimes difficult to stay focused on the long buy and hold strategy when you see disturbances and upsets along the way.In 1981 if you had put $10,000 in each General Electric, Colgate-Palmolive, Procter & Gamble, and Gillette for a total of $50,000 invested, your money would have grown to over one million dollars and that includes staying in the market while we had the crash of 1987. If we jump in and out of every stock when the news was bad we would just be paying a lot of commissions and getting poor. Of course I am not too crazy about what happened to Computer Associates this week. I had dumped that stock just 5 days earlier and it was simple luck that I got out in time. BTW my only reason for leaving CA was that over the course of the last couple of years that stock has been performing very poorly while we were having a spectacular bull run.

Hope you are having a good weekend

Warmest Regards
Frank
