I have been working on this issue for over a year for a major
global corporation in a very hands on way. I have fixed
all the Y2K problems in six of their systems (three of these systems
are very small). We just tested one of the systems using year
2000 dates. We had to age all the dates in the data to do the
test right, no small task. The batch and on-line part of this system
worked perfectly. Will the company I am consulting for have
a big Y2K problem come 01/01/2000? NO!

It is true that some companies and government agencies are
being very stupid about this problem and have done nothing.
I know this from first hand conversations recently. It is still
hard for me to understand the DOOM and GLOOM! There will
be some problems, no doubt! I just can't see that it will crash the
stock market, etc. Of course the market appears to be correcting
right now and we may see the end of this bull long before
01/01/2000.
