Jack, I have not started yet to screen for dead oils and gold. If you are looking at gold stocks and ready to survive the ups and down (more of the downs) I would go with some of the SA gold like VAALY. My reason is that they have had a huge devaluation of the rand, which will suddenly make them quite profitable. Of course, I would also look at the McMoran preferred B, dividend is tied to gold price, the stock will follow, and their production costs in labor are about 30% to 40% of what these were last year.

But remember, this might be dead money until this deflation plagued rim gets on its feet, could be six months and if Ogushi does not come back from the ogushi (the edge of the abyss), maybe a year or more until the next election in Japan (about 13 months or so?).
