Here's an Interesting post from the YAHOO board:
"TCI (and affiliates) have 20.5 million cable subscribers and immediate access to 29 million more (homes that are passed by TCI cable). AT&T wants to upgrade TCI cable to allow cable telephony. Estimated cost $15 to $20 billion. Technology will be tested in a few thousand homes later this year, with a complete commercial rollout planned for Jan. 2000. Certain new technology will allow AT&T/TCI to come in below the original $15 to $20 billion estimate. That technology will be worth up to $2 billion to the company holding the patents from AT&T alone. Other Cable/telecom companies are scrambling to get a place in line.
More to come."
I have one of the Business Week articles that he references. The article mentions "new technology" that will make Cable Telephony economically feasible on a large scale. Could the technology referenced be the TIII patents?
